UPS Guaranteed Service Refund (GSR)

What You Need to Know

UPS promises a guaranteed delivery date and time for ground and express packages. If your package arrives even a minute late, you're entitled to a full refund, known as a Guaranteed Service Refund (GSR).

Here's the catch - UPS won't notify you if your package is late. They also won't voluntarily refund you. It's up to you, the shipper, to contact UPS and request your GSR.

Let's get specific. There are exceptions to the GSR policy. For instance, you won't receive a GSR for 2nd Day Air A.M. residential deliveries, ground returns service packages, or packages with a large package surcharge or additional handling fee. Other exceptions include packages exceeding maximum size or weight limits, those with a UPS call tag, and those with a delivery intercept request, delivery change request, or a UPS My Choice request.

These exceptions are outlined in the UPS Service Guide. For example, ground shipments picked up or scheduled for delivery during the Year-End Holiday Schedule, or between December 2 – December 24, are exempt from GSR. The same applies to air services and 3-day select shipments of hazardous materials or dangerous goods, as well as international shipments of hazardous materials or dangerous goods (except UPS Standard Shipments).

It can be frustrating when your UPS package is late, especially when you're not automatically notified or refunded. But don't worry, there's a solution.
